How To Catch A Loose Corn Snake

Learn how to find your snake if it gets away in this howcast video about pet snakes. how do we find a lost pet snake? well, my first bit of advice is don't lose it.. Snake traps usually come with bait already installed to lure the snake inside. when the snake crawls in, it will get stuck to the glue lining the floor of the trap. when a snake is caught, you open the trap and pour oil over the snake so it can get loose and glide away.. It doesnt hurt to leave some food out for the snake to catch a sniff of. i recommend leaving a live mouse/rat in a small live cage so the snake can smell it. keep an eye on the spot and see if the snake doesnt come along looking for an easy meal. if youve just fed the snake this probably wont work as well as it could..

A loose snake may be located anywhere in your home. the best way to locate your snake is to conduct a thorough search of your home as soon as you realize it has escaped. if you are unable to find it initially, there are several actions you can take to help coax your snake out of hiding.. If the food is dead make sure to throw it out at the end of the day if it isn't eaten or it will rot. don't use live food. you shoudn't be anyway becuase a young corn snake would surely be killed by it. also make sure the lamp isn't to close to the box edge or the snake will burn himself going in.. Depending on the size of your snake place a pink or the next size food in the bottom of a large 2litre soda bottle or, larger plastic jug if snake is bigger. prop the bottle in a dark secluded corner and wait. snake smells food, goes in swallows food and becomes too big to get back out..
